Short description: Kataranskite is a rock of lilac color, which consists of a pseudomorphosis of plagioclase, completely replaced by an aggregate of secondary minerals, mainly finely squamous sericite. Only one deposit of this rock is known, which is located on Cape Kataransky (Kola Peninsula, 66°42’56.2″N 33°35’44.5″E).
