Kataranskite with almandine garnet

$155.00

Short description: This sphere made of amphibolite with kataranskite (violet) and almandine garnet (red-brown).
Kataranskite (or violet gabbro) is a tradename of metasomatic rock of lilac color.
Large plagioclase segregations in this grained rock are almost completely replaced by an aggregate of secondary minerals, mainly sericite, namely manganese containing fine-flaked muscovite (phengite), which is responsible for the purple or lilac color. Thus, this is a pseudomorphosis of phengite after plagioclase.
